AtriumKit vs Scribe

A Scribe alternative that turns one recording into a guide and a demo.

Scribe turns a click-through into a step-by-step guide for SOPs, training and onboarding, in web apps and, on paid plans, desktop apps. AtriumKit turns one Chrome recording into a step-by-step guide and an interactive demo for your site, your sales follow-ups and customer onboarding. Here’s where each one fits.

AtriumKit vs Scribe

The short answer.

Pick Scribe if…

Documentation is the job: SOPs, training and how-to guides for your own teams. Scribe captures in Chrome and Edge and, on paid plans, in desktop apps on Windows and Mac. Paid plans export to PDF, HTML, Markdown and Word, and Pro Team costs $13 per seat a month on yearly billing, from 5 seats. Enterprise adds SAML SSO, SCIM and automatic redaction of PII and PHI.

Pick AtriumKit if…

You also have to show the product to people outside the company: visitors to your site, prospects after a call, new customers. One Chrome recording gives you a step-by-step guide and an interactive demo, guided with branching or clickable, on every plan. Pro adds lead forms, personalized links, AI voiceovers and translation into 15 languages. AtriumKit records web apps in Chrome only.

Pricing

What each one costs.

AtriumKit

Free: $0, with 3 published demos and 1 creator. Pro: $38 per creator a month, or $32 billed yearly. Team: $69, or $58 billed yearly. Viewers are free on every plan. Pro and Team start with a 14-day trial (a card is needed). Enterprise is arranged with us.

Scribe

Basic: free. Pro Personal: $35 per seat a month, or $25 a month on yearly billing, from 1 seat. Pro Team: $17 per seat a month, or $13 a month on yearly billing, from 5 seats. Enterprise: custom pricing. Prices are in US dollars, and education and nonprofit discounts are available on request.

Per seat, Scribe costs less. On yearly billing, one person pays $25 a month for Scribe Pro Personal and $32 for AtriumKit Pro. Five people pay 5 × $13 = $65 a month for Scribe Pro Team and 5 × $32 = $160 for AtriumKit Pro. If you only need written guides, that gap is the main thing to weigh; AtriumKit’s price also covers interactive demos, and on Pro, lead forms and personalized links.

Switching from Scribe

Why teams switch to AtriumKit.

  • 01

The guide also needs a demo

One Chrome recording gives you the written guide and an interactive demo: a guided walkthrough with branching, or a clickable demo viewers explore in any order. Put it on your site, in your help center or in a follow-up email. On Pro and Team, a lead form can send new leads to HubSpot, Salesforce or Slack.

  • 02

    Translations below Enterprise

Scribe lists language translation on Enterprise. AtriumKit supports 15 languages, English included, and on Pro and Team its AI translates a demo into the others. The demo’s guide is published in every one of them, with a language menu for readers.

  • 03

Guide exports on the free plan

Scribe’s PDF, HTML, Markdown and Word exports start on Pro Personal. AtriumKit guides can be copied as rich text or Markdown, downloaded as a .md file or printed to PDF on every plan, Free included. There’s no Word export.

  • 04

Change the page text after you record

AtriumKit keeps each recorded page as HTML. When a label or a name on screen changes, you edit the text on the captured page, or find and replace it across the demo, and publish again. The demo and its hosted guide both change. A moved control or a changed flow still means recording that flow again.

An honest answer

When Scribe is the better pick.

No tool is right for every team. These are the cases where we’d point you to Scribe.

  • You document desktop software. Scribe’s desktop app captures on Windows and Mac on Pro Personal, Pro Team and Enterprise. AtriumKit records web apps in Chrome only.
  • You only need written guides, for a team of five or more. Scribe Pro Team is $13 per seat a month on yearly billing, from 5 seats. AtriumKit Pro is $32 per creator a month billed yearly.
  • You want guides made from work people already do. Scribe’s Autocapture turns activity in apps your admins approve into guides for review, without anyone pressing start or stop. On paid plans, an uploaded screen recording of up to 30 minutes becomes a guide. In AtriumKit, someone clicks through each flow in Chrome.
  • You want guidance inside the live app. Scribe turns any guide into an on-screen walkthrough in Chrome and Edge on every plan, and on Enterprise its Pins attach guides to elements in web apps. AtriumKit has no in-app guidance.
  • You need company-wide documentation controls. Scribe Enterprise lists SAML SSO, SCIM, role-based access control, IP whitelisting and enforced automatic redaction, and Scribe lists SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA. AtriumKit doesn’t have a SOC 2 report yet, and its SSO is on Enterprise only.
  • You want narrated playback on a free plan. Scribe’s Movies play any guide with AI narration and captions on every plan. AtriumKit’s voiceovers are on Pro and Team.
  • Your team works in Microsoft Edge. Scribe has Chrome and Edge extensions. AtriumKit records in Chrome only.

We make AtriumKit, so read this page with that in mind. Every Scribe fact above comes from Scribe’s own pricing page, product pages or release notes, checked on November 1, 2026, and listed under sources. Where Scribe’s pages don’t say, the table says “Not listed” instead of guessing.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is AtriumKit cheaper than Scribe?

No, not per seat. Scribe Pro Personal is $35 per seat a month, or $25 on yearly billing, and Pro Team is $17, or $13 on yearly billing, from 5 seats. AtriumKit Pro is $38 per creator a month, or $32 billed yearly. AtriumKit’s price covers interactive demos as well as guides, and viewers are free. See pricing.

Can I move my Scribes into AtriumKit?

There’s no importer. Record each flow again in Chrome with the AtriumKit extension; the recording becomes a demo, and publishing it gives you its guide. For screens you can’t open in Chrome, you can build a demo from screenshots instead.

Can AtriumKit record desktop apps?

No. It records web apps in Google Chrome (version 116 or later). Scribe’s desktop app captures on Windows and Mac on its paid plans. See what you can record.

Does AtriumKit have on-screen walkthroughs like Scribe?

No. AtriumKit doesn’t put overlays inside your product or inside other web apps. Its demos and guides are hosted pages and embeds, and viewers open them in any modern browser, with no extension.

Do AtriumKit guides change when my product changes?

Not on their own. A text change is an edit, because recorded pages are kept as HTML. A moved control, a new layout or a changed flow means recording that flow again. The hosted guide follows the demo each time you publish; copies you pasted elsewhere don’t.

Which AtriumKit plans include guides and exports?

All of them. Every published demo has a step-by-step guide, and you can copy it as rich text or Markdown, download a .md file or print it to PDF on Free. AI translations of the guide are on Pro and Team.

Does AtriumKit have SSO or SOC 2?

SSO is on Enterprise, with SAML or OpenID Connect. AtriumKit doesn’t have a SOC 2 report yet. Scribe lists SAML SSO and SCIM on its Enterprise plan, and SOC 2 Type II among the standards it meets.
