Chrome recorder
Record a demo by using your product.
Open the Chrome extension, hit record and click through the flow the way you always do. Every click is saved as a step, and private data is blurred before anything leaves your browser.
- Free (included)
- Pro (included)
- Team (included)
Recording and HTML capture work on every plan. Free publishes up to 3 demos at a time, with unlimited drafts.
-
Guided or clickable
Choose the demo type before you start. A step-by-step walkthrough, or a sandbox of screens viewers explore on their own.
-
Blurred before upload
Emails, phone numbers and names are pixelated in your browser. The original pixels and text never reach AtriumKit.
-
Fix mistakes as you go
Undo removes the last step. Pause lets you set something up without capturing it. No need to start over.
-
Pages you can edit later
Each page is saved as a screenshot and as a script-free copy of the page, so you can change its text after you record.
Recording
Hit record and use your product.
Open the extension on the tab with your product, pick Guided or Clickable and click Start recording. A border and a small bar show you’re recording. Each click saves the screen as it looked just before you clicked, where you clicked and what you clicked on.
- Record This tab, or the Whole window to follow a flow from one tab to the next
- ⌥⇧R (Alt+Shift+R on Windows) starts and stops recording from any tab
- Pause to move around without capturing, or hold ⌥ (Alt) while you click
- Turn on Capture hover states and a menu that opens on hover becomes a step too
Privacy
Blur it before it leaves the page.
Auto-blur is on by default. The recorder finds personal data on the page and pixelates it in your browser before the capture is stored, so the unblurred pixels and the original text are never uploaded.
- Emails and phone numbers anywhere on the page, and names in user, customer and profile fields
- Blur area: drag over anything else and it’s blurred in every capture of that page
- Password, payment card and one-time code fields are never read
- Your developers can mark elements with
data-atriumkit-blurso they’re always blurred
Review
Tidy up before you upload.
Click Done and a side panel lists every step you captured. Drop the ones you don’t want, then open the demo in the editor. Nothing uploads until you say so.
- Undo on the recording bar removes the last step while you’re still recording
- Remove any step from the review panel, or discard the whole take
- Draft tooltip copy from my clicks gives each guided step a first line, like Click “New invoice”
- Captures stay on your computer until they upload, and an interrupted upload picks up where it stopped
HTML capture
Every page, saved twice.
Next to each screenshot the recorder saves a static copy of the page, with its markup, styles, images and fonts but none of its scripts. In the editor you change text, hide a banner or swap an image on that copy as if it were the live page.
- On every plan, including Free. Turn on Screenshots only to skip it
- Captures open shadow DOM, same-origin iframes and CSS-in-JS styles
- Hover and focus states, form values, scroll position and open dialogs stay as you saw them
- Captured pages never run scripts or contact your site when someone views them
- Edit page text after you record, with find and replace across the demo

FAQ
Questions, answered.
What can’t the recorder capture?
Chrome doesn’t let extensions record chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, other extensions or local files. Clicks inside an iframe from another domain aren’t captured, and each screenshot is the visible part of the page, not the full scrolling length. The recorder works on web apps in Chrome. It doesn’t record desktop apps or video. See what you can record.
Which browsers does it work in?
Google Chrome 116 or later, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Other browsers aren’t supported for recording. Viewers don’t need the extension. Your demos open in their browser from a link or an embed.
Can I make a demo without the extension?
Yes. Click New demo, then Upload screenshots. PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 15 MB each work. A guided demo gets one step per screenshot, in file-name order. See create a demo from screenshots.
Can I add more screens to a demo later?
In a clickable demo, + Capture more screens records new pages into the same demo and links its navigation again. To change a guided demo’s flow, record it again. Small changes, like a renamed button, are quicker to edit on the captured page.
Who in my workspace can record?
Admins and editors. Viewers can watch demos and see analytics and leads, but they can’t record.
