How AI credits work

What each AI action costs, how many credits each plan includes a month, when they reset, what happens when an action fails and where to see what’s left.

  • Updated October 22, 2026

AI writing, rewriting, translating and drafting spend AI credits. Credits belong to the workspace, so everyone in it shares the same monthly allowance.

Monthly allowance

Plan AI credits a month
Free 25
Pro 500
Team 2,000

A trial gets the full allowance of the plan you’re trying. Credits reset at the start of each calendar month, in UTC. Unused credits don’t carry over.

What each action costs

Action Where Cost
Write with AI Editor header 1 credit per 20 strings, at least 1
Rewrite A step or hotspot in the inspector 1 credit
Write guide copy Guide tab 1 credit per 20 strings, at least 1
Translate Languages tab 1 credit per 50 strings, at least 1; one string on its own is 1
Write narration with AI Voiceover panel 1 credit per 20 scripts, at least 1
Draft with AI Brand kit → Knowledge 2 credits
AI chat message The AI chat on any page 1 credit, and 1 more for every 3 steps after the first 3 in long tasks
Generate video or Make video Videos → New video, or Make a video in the demo editor 5 credits, 10 for videos over a minute
Ask AI to change this scene A scene in the video studio 1 credit
Generate music Music in the video studio 16 credits
AI image (Generate) Media in the video studio 1 credit for abstract or illustration, 10 for a photo

You always see the cost before anything runs: “Uses 2 credits” at the bottom of Write with AI, or the count on the Translate N strings button. The same text in many places, such as a sidebar label stitched onto every screen, is translated and charged once.

AI rewrites and translations that an assistant runs through AtriumKit’s MCP server use the same credits.

What doesn’t use credits

  • AI voices. Voiceovers have their own allowance of characters per creator: 60,000 a month on Pro and 120,000 on Team. See Add a voiceover.
  • Recording or uploading your own narration.
  • Draft tooltip copy from my clicks in the extension. That’s worked out from your clicks, not by AI.
  • Editing by hand, previewing, publishing and keeping translations you’ve already made.
  • Music from the video studio’s music library, stock footage and sound effects.
  • Exporting videos. Exports use your plan’s export time instead: the length of each video you export. See the video studio.

Failed actions are refunded

Credits are set aside when an action starts and given back if it fails. A translation that comes back with its variables changed is kept as Needs review: viewers see the original text, and Translate doesn’t send it, or charge for it, again.

See what’s left

  • In the AI dialogs. Write with AI, Write guide copy and the Languages tab show a chip like “480 of 500 AI credits left”. Point at it to see the reset date.
  • In the Rewrite menu. It shows “1 credit · 480 left”.
  • On the Billing page. Admins see AI credits with this month’s use and the reset date, next to the plan’s other limits.

When you run out

The dialogs say “You’re out of AI credits this month” and how many credits the action needs. You can:

  1. Wait for the reset on the 1st.
  2. Upgrade: Pro includes 500 credits a month and Team 2,000. Admins can change plans on the Billing page.

You can still edit copy by hand, publish and share while you’re out of credits.

Limits

  • Each person can run up to 12 AI actions a minute and 150 an hour. Past that, wait a moment and try again.
  • AI writing is off for a demo that AtriumKit has taken down. Nothing is charged.
